SILAT :: THE MALAY SOUL GUARDIAN

Silat is a collective word for indigenous martial arts of the Malay Archipelago and Malay Peninsula of Southeast Asia. Originally developed in what are now indonesia, Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Southers Thailand and Singapore, it is also traditionally practiced in the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar , and Vietnam.

Nowadays, there are hundreds of different styles by they tend to focus either on strikes, joint manipulation, throws, bladed weaponry, or some combination among the techniques. Most impressively, Silat has been existed and practices by Malay people since the era of Sultan Malacca during the 1400. These had proven that Silat is now no longer a martial arts, but has been part of Malay family and a culture that cannot extinguished. These blog will discuss more about Silat on the next part.
